School Based Influenza Nasal Spray Vaccination Programme – 1/12/2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Immunisation Service are coming into school 01/12/2021 to offer your child the Flu vaccination.
Contained within this email are the following documents:
  • A parent letter – with instructions on how to complete the online consent form, to either consent or refuse this course of vaccinations.
Please note there is a cut off time and date for consent completion, which can be found in the letter. This also contains important information on the vaccines and frequently asked questions, to help you and your child reach an informed decision regarding consent.
  • Links to publications from Public Health England for relevant school years – to be shared with your child.
The online consent form is available for completion until 11am five working days before the session date above. If you have any difficulties completing this online form, please contact your local Immunisation team before the cut-off date, using the telephone number provided in the attached letter. If you miss the cut off time to complete the consent form, we will not be able to vaccinate your child in school on the day of the vaccination session. The consent form will reopen one working day after the session, enabling you to submit a form for your child to be offered the vaccination at a later date, within one of our catch up clinics.

If your child is in Reception to Year 6 please read the following publication with your child:

WEEKLY NEWS FOR FAMILIES 24.09.2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another fantastic week here in school. The children have started on their new Learning Journeys. It was great to see so many of our families attending the ‘Parent-Teacher Meetings’ this week. The extra curricular clubs are filling up! There are only spaces left in KS1 Badminton, KS2 Cricket and KS1 Multi Skills. Every other club is full. Many of the children have told us how much they are enjoying these opportunities.

HARVEST SERVICES
Our Harvest Service this year will be on Thursday 30th September in St Mary’s Church. Reverend Richard will help us to celebrate this occasion. There will be two services:
9.30am: Lewes, Camber, Amberley & Bramber classes
10.30am: Portchester, Southsea, Pevensey, Arundel, Bodiam & Hastings classes
The teachers may ask for a couple of parents to help walk with their class.
Any ‘Local Visit’ permission forms that have not been signed previously will be given to you by your child’s class teacher in preparation for our visit to Church.

HARVEST FOODBANK DONATIONS
We will be collecting donations for our local Foodbank in Bognor Regis. Please can the children bring in one item each from the suggested list that I have attached to this ParentMail. They are items that hopefully you will have in your cupboards already. On Monday each class will have a ‘Donation Box’ for the children to put their items into. Thank you for your support.

DANCE HOUSE
On Tuesday 2nd November 2021 our KS1 ‘Dance Club’ will be performing at the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis. They are currently working hard to polish their dance routine and we can’t wait to see them perform. It will be an amazing experience for them.
Mrs Cummings will be looking to recruit some Y5/Y6 dancers later in the year for the Dance House event in May 2022. We would like to give those children that are not taking part in Young Voices the opportunity first.

YOUNG VOICES
Young Voices concert at the 02 Arena in London on Wednesday 19th January 2022.
Our choir are busy rehearsing their songs for this fantastic event. Please can the parent tickets be paid for by Wednesday 29th September 2021. We will be taking the children to the event by coach. The children will be accompanied by Mr Hughes and myself, along with other school staff and our parent Governors. All parents will need to make their own way to the 02. This is an amazing opportunity for our KS2 children. It will be extremely busy, so for safety reasons, we will not be releasing any of the children to parents to bring home from the 02. We will all meet back together at school. Thank you for your understanding regarding these arrangements. As soon as we have receipt of the tickets, we will know the exact timings. The concert is expected to finish at around 9pm. It will be a very quiet coach journey home!

PLAYTIME EQUIPMENT
Each class was presented with a special container of playground equipment today that they can use and share when they have their playtime. We have also created a selection of books to go into our ‘Book Nook’ for any of our children who would prefer to sit quietly and read in our new wooden shelter.

OPEN MORNINGS FOR OUR NEW EYFS CHILDREN WHO WILL START SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER 2022.
Please see the attached flyer for our ‘Open Mornings’. We will run them on Friday 15th October and Saturday 16th October 2021. It would be really helpful if some of our Y6 children would be able to come and talk about our school and help show our visitors around. There may be a ‘chocolatey reward’ for giving up a Saturday morning to help the Senior Leadership Team. Please email using the office2@yaptonschool.org email to let us know if your child could come and be an ambassador for our wonderful school. We can then send you further details and arrangements.

ROCK STEADY
If you have a ‘rock-star’ who would like to join a ‘Rocksteady’ band, please see the flyer below.

Have a fabulous weekend.
Take care
Kim Huggett

TENNIS CLUB

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the concerns raised by some parents regarding the first session of Tennis Club last Thursday, I contacted the Manager of Activ8 for Kids. I explained the situation regarding the attitude and communication of the coaches. I was clear in my communication that this was unacceptable.
As a result, the club have followed an internal investigation based on their company complaints procedure and this has been shared with me. The coach in question has formally apologised and will not be taking Tennis Club at our school again. A new coach will be here tomorrow to partner the other original coach.

The session will involve mini games of tennis combined with some skills training.
I really appreciate your honesty and feedback, it means that we can work together to get the best for the children.

Kind regards,
Kim Huggett

WEEKLY NEWS FOR FAMILIES 17.9.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was great to see so many families at our Roald Dahl Exhibition this afternoon. Thank you for your support. The first two weeks back at school have flown by and we are now looking forward to progressing with the learning for the children. It was important to make sure that they were all settled and happy in order to be ready to learn! It is really important that the children are in school learning everyday. I have attached some ‘Attendance’ information for you.

FOOTBALL CLUB & OUTDOOR EXPLORERS
Please make sure that the children in these clubs have the correct clothing.
Outdoor Explorers: Old clothes, wellies or trainers. If it is raining and as the weather turns colder they will need waterproofs and/or warm clothes.
Football Club:As the weather turns, the children will need football boots for stability. The shin pads are necessary for protection at all sessions.

SOUTHSEA CLASS
We have just heard this afternoon that Southsea Class will be ready for the children to return to on Monday. There will be some out-of-hours work carried out in order to make this happen. Please take your children to the normal entrance fior the children on Monday morning. Thank you for your understanding this week.

PARENT-TEACHER MEETINGS NEXT WEEK
We are looking forward to seeing you next week. If you have not booked an appointment, please log on to ParentMail this weekend to book one.
Have a fabulous weekend.

PARKING

Dear Parents and Carers,

Whilst I appreciate how busy it is to be able to park on North End Road, it is unfair to park across the driveways of local residents and illegal to park on double yellow lines.

This afternoon, I received numerous complaints from local residents about the inconsiderate parking of some of our school families.
Please can you ensure that you park safely.

Thank you
Kim Huggett

Parent – Teacher Meetings

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been brought to our attention that within the online booking system the name of the teacher may not be matching your child’s class.  This is a ‘technical issue’ with ParentMail we will look to sort out.

Please make sure you are booking an appointment with your child’s class – even if the class teacher’s name is incorrect at the moment.  Please be assured you will see your child’s teacher!
We plan to hold the discussions outside and both parents are invited.
Thank you for your patience.
Kind regards

Chris Hughes,
Deputy Headteacher

EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS

Dear Parents and Carers,

please find attached the schedule for the Clubs.
There has been a mix up with some of the times on the slips that do not correspond with the schedule.

Please can I remind you that ‘Young Voices’ KS2 choir is both on a Monday and Thursday at 8am.

Thank you
