Weekly News For Families – 27.05.22

Dear Parents and Carers,
What an amazing afternoon our Jubilee Country Dancing Festival was!  All the children looked fantastic in their red, white and blue and danced brilliantly. Thank you to all of you who came.  I hope you enjoyed the family dance as well!
A big thank you to all of the mums who were part of the fundraising team.  Through the cake sale, tombolas and raffle an amazing £1066 has been raised.  This will be used support our drive to take the learning outside.
Summer Term 2 Hooks
Please find attached details regarding the exciting hooks the teachers have planned for the beginning of the second half of the summer term.
Lollypop Crossing
The school has been made aware of a couple of times where families haven’t crossed the road outside of the school carefully, putting themselves and others in danger.  It is great we now have Mrs Welburn outside each morning and afternoon in her School Crossing Patrol role.  Please make sure you cross the road safely.
INSET Day
Don’t forget Monday 6th June is an INSET Day.  The school will be closed whilst the teachers work hard in response to our recent Ofsted report looking at our bespoke curriculum and its delivery, as well as ensuring the curriculum offer meets the needs of all learners.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday 7th June.
Have a lovely half term break.  Enjoy the Jubilee celebrations.
Take care

Singing at the Jubilee Family Picnic and the Edgcumbes Summer Market

Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you very much to the replies regarding the two singing events.
Not surprisingly, as the Jubilee Family Picnic is in the half term break and extended bank holiday, the number of children who were available to sing at this event was quite low.  This means we are not going to take part,
However, the numbers are far more positive for the Edgcumbes Summer Market on Saturday 2nd July.  We will be singing at 11am and more details regarding this event will be sent out after the half term break.
Kind regards
Chris Hughes
Deputy Headteacher

Weekly News for Families 20.05.2022

Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s amazing we have only got one more week to go until half term!  Don’t forget we are ending this half term with our Jubilee Country Dancing Festival, which will start at 1:30pm on the school playground on Friday 27th May.  All the children have been practicing their moves.  Please make sure the children are ‘dressed to impress’ in their red, white and blue.  Please bring something to sit on.  It will be lovely to see you all – there may even be a dance for the grown-ups to take part in!
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation towards the bottle and chocolate tombolas.  There are also an amazing range of raffle prizes to be won.
Sports Day and Family Picnic
Our school Sports Day is on the morning of Friday 15th July which will be followed by a family picnic.  Chartwells will not be providing hot meals on this day.  The school will order a Chartwells packed lunch for those children who are entitled to a Free School Meal.  Families who normally order a hot meal do have the option to order a packed lunch instead of a hot meal through the normal process.

We are planning a new exciting start to the Autumn Term for the children who will be in Years 3 and 4.  This will include a sleepover at the Novium Museum in Chichester. Further details about this will be sent out next week.

WEEKLY NEWS FOR FAMILIES 13.05.22

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another busy week has flown by!  As well as some amazing learning going on in each class, the Year 6 children have applied themselves brilliantly through their SATS tests. We are very proud of all their efforts and resilience. Although it has been a stressful time for them, we have aimed to make it as relaxed as possible by starting each day with a top-up breakfast and then at lunchtime today the Year 6 children were treated to a special surprise at Miss Hook and Mr Hughes’ Ice-Cream Parlour!
During the week, we were visited by the Local Authority who checked and validated the administration of the SATS tests.  They commented on the clear organisational procedures put in place, which included some of our School Governors coming in to carry out their own monitoring.

Post Ofsted Action Plan Meeting
Thank you to those of you who came to the meeting yesterday evening where the next stages in the development of the school were shared.  The support shown in the meeting along with some positve written comments were very much appreciated.  There is another meeting where the same information will be shared with the families of our new September 2022 intake in the school hall starring at 6pm on Thursday 17th May.  If you were unable to make yesterday’s meeting, you are more than welcome to come.
The information will also be shared on our school website and we will let you know when this is available.

Outdoor Learning Day
Don’t forget our next Outdoor Learning Day is on Thursday 17th May.  The children will need to come into school dressed in suitable clothing (non-uniform) for a whole day of being outside.  If the weather is good, please make sure your child brings in a sun hat of some kind.

Time To Shine
Please come into your child’s class at the end of the day on Friday 20th May where you will be able to see the three pieces of work your child is most proud of from this half term.  This is a fantastic opportunity to see what the children have been up to over the past few weeks.

Village Jubilee Picnic
Attached is a poster advertising a Family Picnic to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Saturday 4th June.

Tombola Donations
Thank you to those of you who have already made some donations towards the Bottle and Chocolate Tombolas which are part of our Country Dancing Festival on Friday 27th May.  Please can any further donations be made by Friday 20th May.  There is a collection table on your way into school each morning and a donation box at the school office for any other items of the day.  Look out for a list of amazing raffle prizes which will be sent out at the beginning of next week.
On the theme of the Country Dancing Festival, the children need to come to school on Friday 27th May wearing red, white and blue as this event is our way of marking the Queen’s Jubilee.  Please avoid any football tops!
Have a lovely weekend.

Take care
Kim Huggett

DONATIONS FOR THE CHOCOLATE AND BOTTLE TOMBOLAS
Please can you remember to bring in your donations for the ‘bottle’ and ‘chocolate’ tombolas from Monday 9th May. There will be a collection point at the front of the school at school drop off and one in the school entrance by the main office for other times of the day. We are really looking forward to our Country Dancing Festival and Fundraiser on the 27th May.

KS2 SATS FOR Y6 CHILDREN
The end of Key Stage 2 SATS tests begin next week. The children are coming to school as normal and will enjoy a special top-up breakfast before they start their tests. We have organised that the children complete the tests in classrooms or other spaces that they are used to in our school.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care
