Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you all have had a lovely summer holiday – wherever and whatever you have been up to.
We are all really looking forward to seeing everyone at the beginning of term on Monday 7th September. Don’t forget we are starting the new school year with Y-Fest. All the details regarding this and the arrangements for the start of term are in the September 2020 section of our school website. Here are a few key points to help you prepare for the beginning of the Autumn Term.
Stationery equipment
The guidance from the government continues to be updated. With this in mind, we are suggesting very child in Years 1 to 6 brings in a small pencil case which will contain their own colouring pencils, rubber and pencil sharpener. All other stationery items will be provided by the school.
Daily PE Lessons
Don’t forget that every child in Years 1 to 6 will also be having a daily PE lesson during the first two weeks of school. The children will need to wear their school PE kits to school every day. Details about this are attached to this letter. As the very warm weather has seemed to have left us, part of this PE kit could be a plain tracksuit – this could be a pair of jogging bottoms and a sweatshirt.
Forest School
We are going to be continuing to work with Mr Stuart Slade – our Forest School provider – and sessions have already been organised for the beginning of term. Every class with children from Years 1 – 6 will have one Forest School session in the first couple of weeks. Please see the attached timetable. On their Forest School Day, the children will need to wear appropriate clothing. Old clothes that could get dirty, sensible footwear (this may need to be wellies) and water proofs will also be needed.
Chartwells Hot School Meals
Through the Universal School Meals programme, Children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a hot meal every. Unless entitled for Free School Meals, hot dinners for Key Stage 2 children need to be ordered. Please follow this link https://westsussex.mealselector.co.uk/OrderMeals.aspx to do so.
If you have any questions regarding the beginning of term, please do not hesitate to ask – please use the office2@yaptonschool.org email address.
Enjoy the last few days of the summer holiday.
Take care
