The last week in school flew by!

We had much to celebrate and to look forward to.

We said ‘good-bye’ to our wonderful children in Y6 who look forward to the next step in their school journey. We also said ‘good-bye’ to our lovely staff members, Mrs Groves, Mrs Horrex and Mrs Farrell. We wish them well on their exciting new adventures!

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Hillier, Miss Weick and Mr Kelly to our Yapton School family in September.

The Book of Psalms is a book of guidance for life. This weeks verse encourages us to reflect on the teachings of the Bible as a way of illuminating the journeys that may lie before us. As we end our school year and begin our summer holidays, it is a fitting verse for us to reflect on. We hope that everyone has a wonderful summer holiday and finds time to relax and enjoy some time without the pressure of the ‘school run!’

SUMMER HOLIDAY IDEAS

I have attached some information which may help with activities during the 6 weeks. There are deals and offers for some supermarket chains for reduced prices for meal, reduced cinema tickets and a free fun event in Chichester. There is also the ‘Absolute Sport’ Holiday Club held here at school. Just book through the website. If you are in receipt of free school meals, you will have a HAF number/code which you can use to book places which are then free to access.

YAPTON PRIMARY SCHOOL READING CHALLENGE

All of the children received a ‘Reading Challenge’ for the summer holidays. It is really important that the children keep reading! We would be really excited to receive a photo of the children taking part in our reading challenge. Please send the photos to office2@yaptonschool.org and we will create a display in school in September. We can’t wait to see ‘what’ and ‘where’ you are reading!

OUR PRAYER FOR AUGUST

Y5/Y6 SEPTEMBER 2024 RESIDENTIAL LAUNCH

We are excited to be able to officially launch our September 2024 Residential. There will be an important meeting for all parents and carers who will have children in Y4 or Y5 in September. This will be held in our school hall on Wednesday 6th September 2023 at 2.30pm.

INSET DAYS AND TERM DATES FOR 2023-2024

I have attached the dates for this academic year. There will be an INSET day following each half term. I have planned this to help with the price of holidays and to reduce the amount of holidays being taken in term time. I hope that you find this helpful.

HOOKS FOR LEARNING FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

Please find attached the exciting ‘Hooks’ to start the learning for the children in September.

There will be a ‘Potion Commotion’ in KS1, a pre-historic bath-time in lower KS2 and a Sussex Saxon Raid in upper KS2!

Who would have thought that all of this would be happening in the village of Yapton?!
