WEEKLY NEWS FOR FAMILIES – 08.07.22

Dear Parents and Carers,
As the heat has been rising this week, so have the excitement levels been increasing here at school!
Our week actually began last Saturday when a large chunk of the Young Voices choir sang at the Edgcumbes Summer Market.  They dug out their Young Voices t-shirts and sang some of the concert songs brilliantly.  Not only did they get a free ice-cream for their efforts, they all received lots of amazing feedback from members of the public.  A massive well done to all the children for representing the school so well!
Then on the Saturday afternoon, here at school we held a Royal Garden Party for our new EYFS children and their families.  It was lovely to see so many new and some familiar faces.
Transition Day
Wednesday was Transition Day.  Whilst our Year 6 children went off to their new secondary school, everybody else spent the day with their September 2022 classes.  Our new EYFS children enjoyed a stay and play session day as well.  Lots of fun was had by all.
Rock Steady Concert
There was an even greater sense of excitement and anticipation this morning as everyone came into the hall to watch the Rock Steady Concert.  We really do have some talented future rock stars at school!  The four bands who have been taught by Rose from Rock Steady each week gave inspirational performances.  A massive well done to Flynn, Arlo, Peyton, Isla, Lucas, Jacob, Reegan, Lilli, Oscar, Frazer, Max, Evie and Hinson.  Your child may have brought some information about Rock Steady today.
Home School Partnership
A small number of people came to the meeting on Thursday to discuss what our Home School Partnership will include.  The ideas discussed closely matched what the children had been saying in their Community Circle meetings a few weeks ago.
It would be really helpful if we can get some more ideas about how school and home can work together to support the children’s learning before it is finalised.  Look out for a ParentMail letter next week regarding this.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Thank you to those of you who have already booked an appointment to talk to your child’s class teacher at one of the Parent Teacher Meetings which are taking pace in the last week of term.  The ParentMail online booking window for appointments closes at Midday on Tuesday 12th July.
2022-23 Term Dates
I have attached a list of term dates and INSET days for the next academic year.
Churchill’s Job Advert
Churchill’s are advertising for a school cleaner.  I have attached the details as well.
Here Comes The Sun…
It is great to see the sunshine, but it is supposed to be getting hotter next week.  The children were reminded of the essential items for next week:
  1. a water bottle
  2. a sun hat
  3. sun cream to be applied before coming to school
Time to Shine
Thank you to all of you who came into school to have a look at the amazing learning the children have been up to over this half term.  There was such a wide variety of pieces of work on show in the classrooms after school today.

Have a lovely weekend.  Enjoy the sunshine safely.
Take care
