Dear Parents and Carers,

What a rocking day we have had today! Everyone looked brilliant in their outfits today.

This morning’s Rock Steady Concert was a fabulous way to start the day. Well done to the four bands who all performed brilliantly. The performing bands were:

The Space Chicken Nuggets: Jessica, Charlie, Bonnie, Oliver, Emilia, Oscar, Daisy and Scarlett

The Cheeky Elves: Flynn, Arlo, Isaac, Isla, Betty, Julia, Alex, Evangeline and Peyton

The Space Invaders: Luca, Reegan, Oliver, Jacob, Alfie, Harley-Jay and Bani

The Deaf Leopards: Freddy, Alex, Ethan, Jamie, Spencer, Alex and Poppy

Max from Rock Steady said there are a small number of spaces in some of the bands. Attached is a leaflet providing details about what Rock Steady offer.

The rest of today has been focussing on celebrating World Maths Day. This afternoon’s THINK Worship included a times tables chant off – where each class shared a chant based on one of the time tables. Instead awarding THINK certificates, the teachers awarded new Mission Maths Master certificates in recognition of children’s efforts in their Maths learning.

St. Patrick’s Day

Back at the of the beginning of the week, it was lovely to see everyone in St. Patrick’s House wearing different shades of green. Edgar and Betsie, the St. Patrick’s House Captains along with the help from Isla, led our Collective Worship on Monday. They shared with the school what they researched about the patron saint of Ireland. We found out he was born into a Roman family and became a slave at the age of six. Later on in life, he escaped slavery and was determined to teach the Irish people about Christianity. There is a legend that he prayed for some sailors who were stranded on a boat and their nets were filled with fish.

An Open Door

On Tuesday, Reverend Richard spoke to the children about how castles were often built to as a symbol of authority and defence of a Kingdom. He then told the story of Palm Sunday (which is this Sunday) where Jesus triumphantly rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. He also said that where castles may not allow everyone in a Kingdom in, God’s Kingdom is open to everyone. In one of Jesus’ parables, he said, “The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed. It is the smallest of seeds but grows into a tress so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” (Matthew 13:31-32).

Dancing at St. Philip Howard School

Congratulations to the members of Mrs Cummings’ Dance Club who performed at a Performing Arts Festival at St. Philip Howard School on Thursday. Aaron, Alex, Andrea, Jenny, Jessica, Julia, Kaitlin, Leo, Maisie, Olivia, Peyton, Poppy, Reegan and Ruby all danced fabulously as well as enjoying taking part in different music and dance workshops during the morning.
