Dear Parents and Carers,

Well, what an action packed week to start our last half term of the school year!

On Tuesday, we saw our youngest children begin their training at ‘Knight School’. The training included jousting, castle-building, tales from long ago around the campfire, dragon art on the playground which required water to quash the fiery dragon flames and a ‘shield parade’.

There were ‘Mountain Missions’ being accomplished by our Y3/4 children before discovering a mysterious arrival in our Victorian garden!

Our oldest children in Y5/6 certainly started their learning with a ‘whoosh and a bang’ as their volcanoes began to erupt!

We held our first Community Circle of the half term on Thursday. The question that we asked the children was ‘We are a Church of England school. What does that mean to me?’ I would like to share some of the responses:

  • Learning to be kind

  • Learning to love God

  • We take key messages from the Bible

  • We grow closer to God

  • Learning about ourselves

  • Following our 4 values of Community, Dignity, Hope and Wisdom

  • We care for Gods world

Our children always show a considered reflection to the questions that we ask in our Community Circles. If any families would like to contribute by responding to this question, please just email me and we can add your thoughts too. Thank you.

Thank you to Anthony, Roksana, Mia and Spencer from Pevensey Class who have thoughtfully written our prayer for this month. I have attached it so that families can pray our prayer at home.

As we begin the last half term of the year we will be focussing on the final unit of the year called ‘Changing Me’. I have attached as a reminder a more detailed overview for families to read so that they are fully aware of the teaching and learning that is taking place in school. If you have any queries please see your class teacher.

We are very excited about our forthcoming Art Exhibition on Friday 26th June. The exhibition will be in the school hall and will be open for viewing from 11am whilst families are at our Sports Day.

Our little knights who have completed their training at ‘Knight School’ have been invited to a Medieval Banquet on Thursday 20th July. You will have already received the invitation with ideas of the costumes to wear… More details will be sent out next week regarding the food that will be served to the knights and how you can select the choices… Watch this space!

The summer has arrived! At last! It is really important that every child has:

  1. suncream applied before school

  2. a water bottle

  3. a sun hat

    Have a fabulous weekend.

    See you on Monday.

    Take care

    Kim Huggett
