Year 6 and the end of term

Dear Parents and Carers,
Here are a few reminders and extra details regarding the last couple of weeks of term for the Year 6 children:
Year 6 Production
Thank you to all of you who have sent in the costumes ready for next week.  If your child still needs to bring theirs in, please can this be done on Monday so that the children will be able to rehearse in them.
Please don’t forget to sort out your seat allocations for the performances on Thursday 14th July.  This needs to be done through ParentMail.  Remember each child is entitled to 2 seats per performance.  We are asking for younger siblings not come as they will have seen the performance at school.  The performance will last for approximately an hour.
The afternoon performance is starts at 2pm.  As it will be so close to the end of the school day, the children will be able to go home at the normal time.  They will need to wear their costume home and then return to school wearing it at 5:30pm ready for the evening performance which will start at 6pm.  At the end of this performance, the children will need to be collected in the normal way (Bodiam and Hastings Classes – from their classroom doors; Arundel Class – from the hall door).
Year 6 Leavers’ Service
This is going to take place at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday 21st July starting at 9:30am.  This will be a very special time for the Year 6 children to reflect on their primary school years and look forwards to what lies ahead of them at secondary school.  It would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible.
Year 6 Shirt Signing
The traditional short signing will take place back at school after the Leavers’ Service.  The children will need to bring an additional school or plain white short or t-shirt to school on this day, along with some pens (‘Sharpie’ style pens are the best for this).
Year R Photos
Thank you very much to those of you who have sent through a photo of your child in Year R.  We do have plans on how we want to use them.  For this to happen, if there are any more photos to sent through, please can this be done by the end of the day on Monday.  You can either send a photo using the office2@yaptonschool.org email address or by sending in a hard copy which can be scanned.  If you are struggling to find a photo of your child in school uniform, a photo of them at that age will be fine!

I do feel I need to let you know the year 6 children have not let their efforts falter since the SATS tests – which already seem ages ago.  The results of these will come to you with the End of Year Attainment Summaries which will be sent home on Friday 15th July.  If anything, the Year 6 have applied themselves with even more energy and enthusiasm over the past few weeks.  I know they cannot wait to put in the final preparations for the production as well as looking forward to Sports Day and then getting ready for the Leavers’ Service!  And there’s the Summer Term Disco to look forward to…! We will also make sure the children have a chance to reflect on the experiences of their Transition Days so that they can feel fully prepared for that move.
If you have any questions or queries regarding the end of term arrangements for the Year 6 children, please talk to your child’s class teacher.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care
Chris Hughes
