ART CURRICULUM INTENT
At Yapton C. of E. Primary School we believe that to live life in all its fullness we have an open door to learning where…
Why is Art important? Well first let’s imagine a world without art. It might start with there would be no galleries or museums, but if we think of our everyday lives we lost a lot. Patterns on clothes, furniture, wallpaper, signs and symbols, illustration and animation from books, films, album art. It is starting to sound like a pretty dull world.
Art enriches our everyday lives, and not only that, it is a record of the world we live in now.
‘The arts are not just a nice thing to do or have if there is free time or if one can afford it. Rather paintings and poetry, music and fashion, design and dialogue, they all define who we are as people and provide an account of our history for the next generation.’ Michelle Obama
We must give young people the freedom, time, skills and knowledge to explore the history of their world through art and to also express who they are and the world they live in today through art.
