Dear Parents and Carers,
We are already one third of the way through this half term! And of course, it’s been another great week of learning!
The children continued to explore the theme of Hope
in Monday’s Collective Worship. As well as sharing their class stars of hope which were hung on the reflection tree in the hall, they had a chance to discuss some of the common themes that came out of last week’s Community Circles question which focused on building hope in our school.
As we are in church season of Epiphany
, Reverend Richard spent some time de-bunking some of the myths surrounding the visit of the wise men to Jesus when they offered their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh: the visitors were called magi; there may not have been three of them – it could have been more; and they may not have all been men…
Book Reviews
Our Year 5 and 6 school librarians are currently keeping themselves busy getting involved in the West Sussex Library Service Picture Book Awards. Tahlia, Kyra, Rueben, Reece, Alex, Florence, James, Bella and Daisy-May have reviewed four brand new picture books. They spent some time on Wednesday afternoon sharing these with the the EYFs children in Camber and Lewes Class to get their thoughts about them. The most popular book was titled ‘Who Ate Steve?’
(Apparently, Steve is a worm…!)
Stars and Stripes
The Year 1 and 2 children in Amberley, Bramber and Hastings Class together with the children in Camber and Lewes Class had a brilliant Star and Stripes themed day on Thursday. Whilst wearing their own starry and stripy clothes, they enjoyed a range of learning including cheerleading, basketball, flag designing, drumming and star making.
Geography Challenge
Don’t forget to encourage your children to keep on working on their Inter-House Geography Challenge. They will have the chance to show what they have learned in a few weeks’ time on Monday 10th February.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care
Kim Huggett
