Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been an exciting one with Transition Day taking place on Wednesday. Whilst our Year 6 children enjoyed getting to know their new secondary schools, everyone else enjoyed the day being in the next year group up and getting to know who was going to be in the classes in September. Our new September 2025 EYFS children and families also enjoyed visiting the school in their Stay and Play sessions during the day. Thank you to the teachers for making the day exciting and engaging. Here are some reflections from the children about the day:
I enjoyed making potion bottles and shooting stars
I like making some Stone-Age people
I enjoyed making new friends
I am excited to be with a new teacher
I enjoyed writing my name in Anglo-Saxon runes
I enjoyed designing the reading corner
Everyone in my new class is really kind
I enjoyed going to my new secondary school because I saw some of my old friends
The treasure hunt around my new school helped me find my way around
I’m not worried about next year because my new classroom is great fun
I can’t wait for next year!
Rugby Superstars
On Tuesday, 11 of out Year 4 and 5 girls enjoyed an afternoon at Bognor Rugby Club taking part in a special event. Mr Cox writes:
11 girls from Y4 and Y5 represented Yapton Primary School brilliantly at the Women’s Rugby World Cup Festival! Not only did the girls have to battle against Y6 children from other schools, but they also had to battle against the warm weather too!
The afternoon started with a variety of different skill activities to help the girls prepare for their matches. They practised tagging their opponents, passing, catching and most importantly, dodging the defenders!
After a well-deserved break in the clubhouse, Yapton played 3 different matches against other local schools. Although the festival didn’t record scores, Yapton scored many more tries than they conceded. In their second game, the Y4 and Y5 girls played a team of Y6s! Despite the size difference, every single Yapton player got stuck in and everyone stepped up to the challenge!
The teamwork and camaraderie on show was wonderful. All of the players should be extremely proud of themselves. There are definitely some future rugby stars at Yapton.
Don’t forget, the Women’s Rugby World Cup starts on Friday 22nd August when England play the USA!
Well done to Jasmine, Peyton, Lexi, Pearl, Alyssia, Maisie E, Olivia W, Scarlett, Darcey, Julia and Jenny for coping so well in the heat and wearing their Yapton Crowns!
