Year 5 and 6 at the Planetarium
You may have seen on our Facebook page the children Year 5 and 6 have visited the South Downs Planetarium, in Chichester, to bring their learning about Space to a fantastic finish. They all had a great time and were able to add to their learning about what is beyond our home planet. Here are some reflections about their visit from the children:
- We learnt some of the well-know constellations
- It was really fun watching NASA’s new spaceship design
- I liked the dome because it was very relaxing and interesting
- Did you know there are 100-400 billion stars in the Milky Way?
- We could see Saturn, Jupiter and another galaxy called Andromeda
- I learned there are over 600 other planets in our solar system
- I really enjoyed holding the meteorites because I was holding something from space!
- Meteors can be different colours depending what they are made of
- We enjoyed answering the quiz questions and showing off our knowledge!
The staff were very complimentary about how the way the children conducted themselves and represented the school.
Thrive in the Forest Thursdays
Forest School is back! We are delighted to let you know we are now going to be working with Chichester Forest Schools in the delivery of our Forest School curriculum. There will still be a very strong focus on the 5 Ways to Well-Being when the children enjoy their sessions. As well as Forest School being moved to Thursdays, the arrangements have also been adapted so that the children will enjoy a two-hour session with a smaller number of children in their group. The timetable for the second half of the Spring Term is attached.
Spring Term 2 Learning Hooks
Attached are the Learning Hooks for the beginning of the second half of the Spring Term.
We wish everyone a happy half term break and look forward to seeing you all back feeling fully refreshed and ready for some more fabulous learning on Tuesday 24th February.
Take care
Kim Huggett
