Astronomer Visit – Monday 2nd March 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you would have previously read in ParentMail, we are welcoming the South Downs Astronomers Society to our school on Monday 2nd March.

The children will attend school as normal and stay on until 7pm when you can collect.

We are hoping all children will be attending but if for any reason, your child is not attending this evening session please can you let their class teachers know so they can have them ready for you at normal home time.

As mentioned before the children will need to bring with them an extra substantial snack to have a little ‘tea’ at around 4pm before the astronomers arrive.

Here is a brief outline of events for the evening.

3:15 – School finishes.

3:30-4 – Children to have a snack/playtime.

4:15 – SDAS to arrive and deliver a talk.

Activities.

5:20 – Children to head outside to see the sun set at 5:39

Activities

Time unknown – observe the moon/stars.

7pm – Home time.

As we will be outside the children will need to wear PE kits (joggers/jumpers ideal) on this day in order to stay warm – coats are a must.

I have attached the original email for reference.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming these visitors.

Many thanks,

Miss Parsons
