Firstly, thank you to all of you who have logged into the Young Voices Music Room. It is great to see some of you have already ordered the children’s t-shirts and your concert tickets. If you haven’t yet done this, you can use this link
to create your account. The children are really enjoying learning the songs and I expect some of them are singing them quite a lot at home!
It may seem quite a while away but it won’t be long before the children in the Young Voices Choir will be learning some Christmas Songs! This will in preparation for a number of dates leading up to Christmas.
Tuesday 2nd December – Christmas Lights Switch On at Yapton Village Hall
We have been invited to sing at the Village Hall in Yapton at the Christmas Lights Switch On. This will be at 4pm. None other than our own Mrs Huggett has been given the honour of pressing the big button as well!
Thursday 11th December – Showcase Performance
To help cover the costs of enabling the children to take part in the Young Voices Concert in January 2026, we are going to hold a fundraising event on Thursday 11th December. In the hall, starting at 6pm, the Key Stage 2 Choir would be showcasing some of the songs they have been rehearsing for the Young Voices Concert in London. It will last for about 45 minutes.
This wouldn’t be a ticketed event, but we would like to receive donations on the door. Please put these in a plain envelope to bring with you. A warm festive (non-alcoholic) drink would also be available. If you are able to bring along your own lidded cup, this would be really helpful as well.
As well as raising some money, this event would be the perfect opportunity for any family members who are not able to go to the O2 Arena to hear the children sing, as well as providing the children a chance to sing in front of a live audience, under the lights on our school stage!
Saturday 13th December – Christmas Concert with Arun Choral Society at Arundel Cathedral
The annual Christmas Concert at Arundel Cathedral is where children in a number of school choirs join together with the Arun Choral Society. This is always a real highlight of the year.
This year’s concert (which will last an hour) will take place on Saturday 13th December 2025, starting at 5pm. There will also be a rehearsal in the afternoon from 1:00pm – 2:30pm.
Further details of the day, including tickets will come to you after the half term break, but the organisers will need to know how many children will be taking part.
It is great that we have very close to 50 children in the Young Voices Choir. Due to the strict rules concerning numbers from Arundel Cathedral, we are limited to 35 children taking part. If there are more than 35 children wanting to sing, I will offer places to the older children first and then of course hold a ‘waiting list.’ Please this form be completed by Wednesday 22nd October.
Sunday 14th December – Meet The Makers Christmas Event at Edgcumbes Coffee Roastery
Every year, we are also invited to provide some festive entertainment at Edgcumbes. We will sing from 11am on Sunday 14th December for about half an hour.
You will find a form on ParentMail indicate which of these events your children will be able to take part in. Please can this be completed by Friday 17th October.
