Weekly News For Families 04.04.25

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have reached the end of the Spring Term in glorious sunshine!

It was great to end the term with our Easter Hamper Raffle Draw. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has made donations and bought tickets. Seventeen hampers and some additional gift vouchers were won and an AMAZING £917 has been raised. We are really excited to see how this money can be spent to enhance the children’s learning. Special notes of thanks should go to Miss Chuter for leading the hamper creations and to Mrs Taylor for selling lots of the raffle tickets before and after school.

EASTER SERVICES

Thank you, as well, to everyone who came to our Easter Services in St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday. Both the EYFS/KS1 and KS2 services explored the Easter story with a mixture of readings, children’s reflections and learning and some beautiful singing which filled the church.

WEDNESDAY WORSHIP

On Wednesday, we were thrilled to welcome Mr Farrell, the Chaplain from St. Philip Howard Secondary School, with some Year 8 and 9 pupils to lead our time of Praise and Prayer. We were all encouraged to use our hands to help us pray:

  • Our thumb reminds us to pray for ourselves

  • Out first finger prompts us to to pray for the grown-ups at school and at home

  • Our middle finger is the tallest, so this reminds us to pray for world leaders who make important decisions

  • The ring finger, the weakest finger, helps us to remember to pray for those who need our help

  • We can use our little finger to help us choose who else we would like to pray for.

Attached is a copy of these prompts to use at home should you wish to.

    APRIL PRAYER

Also attached is a copy of the April prayer for you to share at home. Thank you to Chloe C, Scarlett, Letty, Bonnie F, Nyla-Rae, Mia K-C, Tahlia, Lexi M, Garrett, Evie K, Pearl Noah C, Julia and Ruby L for their contributions and ideas which have been incorporated into the prayer.

    ROCK STEADY GIG

    CHANGE OF CONTACT DETAILS

If you have changed you mobile phone number over the past few weeks, please can you make sure you let the office know so that our records at school can be updated. Recently, there have been a few occasions where the office staff have unsuccessfully tried to contact parents due to the number not being correct.

    HOOKS INTO THE CHILDREN’S LEARNING

Attached are the some clues about what the children are going to be doing on their return to school after the Easter Holidays.

Parents and carers of those children Cowdray, Portchester and Southsea classes will notice the hook is addressed to the Year 5 children. The Year 6 children have got lots of exciting things happening in the Summer Term, but their focus for the first few weeks of term will be on the preparation for their SATS tests which start on Monday 12th May.

    HAPPY EASTER

Although, there are still two more weeks of Lent, may I, on behalf of the whole staff team, wish you all a very Happy Easter. We look forward to seeing everyone returning to school on Tuesday 22nd April. Don’t come on the Easter Bank Holiday on Monday 21st April as the school will be closed!

    Take care

    Kim Huggett
