Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to all of you who came to our latest ‘Time To Shine’ after school today. We hope you enjoyed finding out what learning your children have been most proud of over this half term.
Marley Magic
Monday’s Whole School Collective Worship was used for our final preparations for the Young Voices’ Bob Marley Sing-A-Long which we took part in on Thursday afternoon. It would have been Bob Marley’s 80th birthday on Thursday. To mark this occasion, we joined with over 300,000 children from 2,000 schools in 50 countries to sing a medley of his songs. Many of his lyrics promoted the themes of love, peace and unity. Watching our children enjoy singing the songs, as well as put in the actions, was a real highlight of the week! Here is a link
to the live broadcast we engaged with. Perhaps the children will teach you the actions to the songs…
Brilliant Bikeability
32 of our Year 6 children have taken part in the Bikeability training this week. They have all achieved the Level 2 standard which provides them with the skills and knowledge to ride their bikes on the road safely. Their excellent behaviour was noted by the instructors. Here are some comments from the children reflecting on the training:
I really enjoyed Bikeability because it taught me how to cycle of the roads safely.
The instructors were really kind.
They gave us step by step instructions if we needed that extra bit of help.
It was nice to be out in the fresh air.
We got to learn about the roads, observing what’s around us as well as the primary and secondary positions on the road.
I enjoyed Bikeability because we all worked together and had lots of fun.
Geography Geniuses
Don’t forget the children will have the chance to show off their knowledge in Monday’s Inter-House Geography Challenge. We wonder which house will be the overall champions?
Chartwells Vacancies
Chartwells – our lunchtime hot meals provider – has a number of vacancies in schools in the local area. Attached are the details.
Have a lovely weekend before the last week before the half term break, which starts on Friday 14th February for the children as we have an INSET Day here at school.
Take care
