Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been another busy week of learning across the school. One of the biggest highlights must be our involvement in World Book Day on yesterday. Everyone had a fabulous time engaging in so many reading opportunities in the forest, the tent, the computer suite, the library as well as the classrooms! Thank you to Mrs Cummings, our English Lead, for planning the day. I wonder how many of the children will have used the World Book Day voucher by the end of the weekend…?
The Beginning of Lent
Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) saw the beginning of Lent. In our Whole School Collective Worship on Monday, the children watched a short film which explained the Christian viewpoint of Lent. Follow this linkto watch at home if you would like to. The children learned about and reflected on the significance of the 40 days leading up to Easter which recognise the forty days Jesus spent in the wilderness ( Matthew 4:1-11
). The children children were challenged to consider what they might sacrifice, or give up, over the next few weeks.
Our School Prayer for March
A new month means a new School Prayer. Attached to this letter is a copy of the prayer should you wish to share it at home. Thank you to Naira, Lila, Isla, Ruby, Bonnie, Letty, Scarlett, Iyla and Noah for their contributions towards the prayer.
Running
Our school was brilliantly represented by our Running Team on Wednesday evening in the first round of races at the Chichester Corporate Challenge. Well done to Olivia, Indi, Lainee-Rae, Alexus, Poppy, Leo, Nihal, Oliver, Alfie, Ethan, Elliot and Archie for showing great determination to do their best as well as giving lots of encouragement to their team mates and the other children taking part. The next race is in a couple of weeks time where the children will be aiming to improve their time.
School Crossing Patrol
There will not be a School Crossing Patrol Service after school on Monday 10th March. If you need to cross the road next to the school, please do so carefully. If you have any Year 5 or 6 aged children who walk home on their own, you may wish to consider picking them up.
Have a lovely weekend, hopefully enjoying some more Spring sunshine…
Take care
Kim Huggett
