Weekly News For Families – 09.01.25

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy first week of the Spring Term we have all had! So much has been going on.

Monday’s Hook Day was such a brilliant way to kick off the learning. Around the school there were all sorts of different things going on: from porridge tasting, large egg discoveries, 1980’s disco partying and rocket launching.

New Year: “I Will…”

During Monday’s Whole School Collective Worship, our new January School Prayer was shared. Thank you to Freddy O’D, Bonnie F and Poppy W for their ideas towards this. The prayer is attached so that you can share it at home. The children were then encouraged to think about what a new new means as it is often a time when people make new starts or make resolutions. The children decided which “I will…” they were going to keep to over the next few weeks and beyond. Why not ask them which one of these they chose:

  • I will help…

  • I will read…

  • I will learn…

  • I will try…

  • I will visit…

  • I will stop…

    Welcome

We warmly welcome Mrs Debbie Martin to our team. In her role as an HLTA, she will be working right across the school teaching classes when class teachers are using their dedicated time for the planning, preparation and assessment of the children’s learning.

    P.E. Timetable

Attached is the updated P.E. timetable for the Spring Term, as there have been a few changes to when the children need to come into school in their P.E. Kits. Here’s a quick reminder that any children taking part in any sports-based or active extra-curricular clubs need to wear their P.E. kits to school on these days as well.

    Chartwells Meals Bookings

School budgets are always tight and we want to make sure every penny spent counts. With this in mind, please can you make sure that any hot meals ordered through Chartwells are taken. Children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal. Older children may be entitled to a Free School Meal. Every meal that is ordered through these schemes have to be paid for by the school, whether they are taken or not. Last term, the school had to spend over £3,200 on meals that were ordered but not taken. Please can you make sure any orders for future unwanted meals are cancelled. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Take care

    Kim Huggett
