Dear Parents and Carers,
It was lovely to see so many of the children wearing their Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts uniforms on Monday morning. We gathered at the front of the school for our whole school Act of Remembrance at the front of the school with our poppy display. The children were encouraged to think about what they remembered doing at the weekend before thinking about their earliest memory. The idea that some people hold onto little mementoes to help them remember special events led the children’s thoughts and reflections onto why poppies are worn and displayed at this time of year. After the two minutes silence at 11 o’clock, Mrs Railton (who is a Guiding Leader) shared a prayer. Photos of our poppy display and the special remembrance prayer are attached.
World Kindness Day
The school was awash with Yellow on Wednesday as we marked World Kindness Day. Every class thought about how they could show acts of kindness and these were shared on large yellow hearts which are now hanging on the reflection tree at the front of the school hall.
What does ‘Respect’ look like?
Leading up to these two reflective events, the children recently met in their Community Circles to discuss the question ‘What does Respect look like?’ The children came up with some great ideas. The common responses are attached.
We are a ‘Highly Effective’ school!
We had our termly visit from the Local Education Authority this week. Feedback was extremely positive and we were classed as a ‘Highly Effective’ school. This recognises the impact of the hard work and commitment of all the staff and the children. Well done everybody!
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care
