Weekly News For Families – 17.10.25

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone who came to Time To Shine this afternoon. I am sure you were impressed with the quality of the children’s learning – as were the team of advisers from the Chichester Diocese Education Team who were hosted here at our school on Wednesday. Not only did they comment on the learning in the books, but they noticed how strong the children’s learning behaviours were, as well as their manners. It is always pleasing to receive feedback like this. Our school values were clearly on display – as they are everyday!

Open Mornings

This morning, we opened our school to a large number of families who are looking at EYFS places for September 2026. The Senior Leadership Team, along with other members of staff and governors, will be back in school tomorrow morning to welcome more families to learn about our school.

Staffing Update

At the end of next week, we shall be saying goodbye to Mrs Browning – our Family Learning Mentor – who has been successful in gaining a new job at River Beach Primary School, in Littlehampton. Mrs Browning has worn many ‘hats’ working in different roles here. She would like to share her reflections of her time at Yapton C. of E. Primary School: Over my 11 years at Yapton, it has been both a privilege and a pleasure to have been part of so many children’s lives. I have enjoyed watching the children learn and grown and will miss seeing their smiley faces every day. I’d like to say thank you to all of the children, families and the amazing team I work with for the memories that I will take with me and cherish, along with the endless giggles. I am looking forward to be able to continue helping and supporting families at River Beach Primary School. As I start my new adventure, I wish you all the very best for your adventures that lay ahead.

We wish Mrs Browning all the every best in her new role.

Miss Purdy, alongside our new School Business Manager, Mrs Lewis – who will be part of our team in a full-time role – will be able to continue to support families. We are currently recruiting for a new member of staff to help with supporting our families. Don’t forget Mrs Emery-Winter and myself are on the school gates at the beginning and the end of the school day.

Poetry Festival

We are looking forward to bringing the first half of the autumn term to end with a colour-themed Poetry Festival next week. Each class is going to be working hard to prepare a poem to perform to the rest of the school at the end of the week.

School Photographs

Don’t forget the children will be having their school photographs taken on Monday. Please can all the children be wearing their full school uniform, rather than nay P.E. kits.

Have a lovely weekend.

Take care

Kim Huggett
