Art Exhibition

We hope you have had the opportunity to visit our Art Exhibition today as well. I am sure you will agree the hall was full of the most amazing and beautiful pieces of art work based on the theme of Wisdom produced by the children. Thank you if you have bought your child’s art work as well. The money raised will be used to enhance our Art and Design curriculum.

We have raised £123 today and we are hoping that this commission will increase throughout next week.

If you haven’t yet bought your child’s art work, orders can be taken during the whole of next week, Friday 27th June. Please leave cash payments be brought in envelopes labelled with your child’s name and class on to the school office. Pictures will be available to collect on Monday 29th June.

Letting Our Lights Shine

On Tuesday, Reverend Richard led our Whole School Collective Worship. The children were asked to think about why light is a better thing than darkness. Using the song ‘This Little Light Of Mine’ the children were challenged to think what they could do to let their light shine to make a positive difference.

Year 3 and 4 Quad Kids

As well as competing in our Sports Day, a team of Year 3 and 4 children spent the afternoon at The Six Villages Academy competing in a West Sussex West Sport Partnership Quad Kids athletics event. Well done to Darcey, Evelyn, Isla M, Ethan N, Garrett, Charlie, Aria SD and Julian for representing the school so well competing in four different events – a sprint, a standing long jump, a vortex throw and a grueling 400m run. It was clear they were all wearing their Yapton Crowns whilst competing against children from other local schools.

National Writing Day

Wednesday 25th July is the date for this year’s National Writing Day. During the day, the children are going to be given the opportunity to creatively write in response to a short animated video which the children will watch together.

Year 6 Leavers Service at Chichester Cathedral

During the morning of the same day next week, our Year 6 children will be taking part in a special Year 6 Leavers’ Service in Chichester Cathedral. Joining other Year 6 children from other local Church of England primary schools, they will have the opportunity to reflect on their time at primary school and think about the exciting futures they face at their new secondary schools.

UK Harvest Donations

Wasn’t it so nice UK Harvest were able to bring along all of those tomatoes, which were destined for waste, to be take away for free by our school families? This was a lovely gesture, particularly as we have been collecting donations of cupboard supplies for them this. We will continue to receive donations for the UK Harvest Summer Drive 2025 for one more week before the donations brought in will be collected. If you have already made a donation, we thank you for your generosity.

Churchills Cleaning Contractors Vacancy

Attached are details of a job vacancy with Churchills – our school cleaning contractor.

Mrs May

Mrs May, our School Business Manager, will be retiring in the summer. Mrs May has worked here at Yapton C. of E. Primary School for over an astonishing 28 years! Over this time, so many families, members of staff and the wider school community have got to know her and benefitted from her unwavering commitment and passion for the school. Mrs May will is already looking forward to spending extended lengths of time with her family – some of whom are on the other side of the world! The school is really going to miss Mrs May, but I am sure everyone will want to wish her all the very best for an exciting retirement.

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe in the sunshine.

Take care

Kim Huggett
