Dear Parents and Carers,
As this week began on St. Patrick’s Day, Kai and Tilly – our St. Patrick’s House Captains – led our Whole School Collective Worship sharing what they had found out about some of the customs and traditions linked to this day. Well done to these two Year 6 children. It can be quite daunting to be standing in front of over 300 children!
Keeping On Running
Our Year 5 and 6 running team did themselves and the school proud in the second round of the Chichester Corporate Challenge races on Wednesday. Every member of the team ran quicker and improved their time. Some of them saw improvements of a few seconds; some of them managed to take close to or over a minute off their times! A big congratulations to Poppy, Alexus, Indi, Lainee-Rae, Olivia, Oliver, Nihal, Alfie, Archie and Elliot. A bigger congratulations goes to Ethan who managed to finish in the top ten in his race. It was lovely to see the enthusiastic team spirit amongst the team on the night and to see their reactions when they found out their positions and times. One more race to go in a fortnight’s time!
We Love Reading
Please find attached details about the Reading Workshop for parents and carers being held on Wednesday 26th March at 2:30pm and 6:00pm. Come along to find out how we are growing the love of reading in school as well as getting some tips on how you can support this vital part of your children’s learning.
Easter Holiday Camps
JC Sports are running an Easter Holiday Camp here at school. HAF places are available for those families who are entitled to Free School Meals. The West Sussex Music Service is also running some workshops over the Easter break. Details of both of these are attached.
Easter Hampers
Don’t forget Friday 28th March is a non-uniform day in return for donations towards our Easter Hamper Raffle. Donations will be collected from the children’s classrooms. We would still appreciate any offers of help to make up the hampers or sell the tickets. Please let us know through the office2@yaptonschool.org email address.
Easter Services
As a school, we will be celebrating Easter at St. Mary’s Church in Yapton on Tuesday 1st April. You are warmly invited to come along. Helpers will of course be needed to walk with the children. The EYFS and KS1 service will start at 9:30am and the KS2 service will begin at 10:30am. Whenever we gather at the church, these acts of Worship are very special and we look forward to seeing lots of you joining us to celebrate the most important time in the Christian calendar.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care
Kim Huggett
