Weekly News For Families – 24.01.2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Can you believe we are half way through this half term already? Luckily, the blustery weather hasn’t distracted the children away from their learning this week!

Being the best version of ourselves

There was a very special start of the week for 46 of our Key Stage 2 children who make up our school choir. After lots and lots of preparations and before school rehearsals, Monday was the day they went to take part in the Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena, in London. Singing as part of a choir made up of of 8,264 children to a sold out arena was a truly fantastic experience. Not only did the children have an amazing time, they represented the school brilliantly. Before setting off, the children were set two challenges for the day: 1) to ensure their ‘Yapton Crowns’ remained securely on their heads; 2) to sing with joy as they were being the best versions of themselves. There was no doubt that both were accomplished with flying colours!

Making good decisions

On Tuesday, Reverend Richard led our Collective Worship. Using the recent election news and inauguration of a new American President, he encouraged the children to think about how and why people make decisions for the good of other people, not just for themselves. In the New Testament, it is written, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask God, who gives generously, and it will be given them,” (James 1:5).

Christians believe instead of God making decisions for us, He gives us the gift of free will to be able to make our own choices and we can ask Him for guidance and wisdom for the choices we make.

Upcoming dates

Here is a reminder of a few dates that are coming up:

Tuesday 4th February – Our next Book Swap will be held after school.

Friday 14th and Monday 24th February – Both of these dates are INSET days, where the school will be closed to children.

Have a lovely weekend.

Take care
