Dear Parents and Carers,
this term is certainly flying along !
Thank You to everyone who donated so generously for our Easter Hampers today. The tickets will be on sale on Monday and the draw will take place after school on Friday.
It was fabulous to see so many families at our ‘Time To Shine’ today. The children were really excited to show you their work.
Thank You to the families who completed our feedback slips today. We will read these carefully and update you on any developments from this.
DIGNITY – Being worthy of honour or respect. This was our focus for our Worship together on Monday.
Together, we watched the story of You Are Special
by Max Lucado. This tells the story of a group of small wooden people called the ‘Wemmicks’. One of the main characters is a small wooden person called Punchinello. A woodcarver named Eli, helps Punchinello to understand how special he is – no matter what the other Wemmicks thought of him. We talked about showing love and respect to one another because of who we are – not what we do. If you click on the title in blue (You Are Special), you will be able to watch the story.
MOTHERING SUNDAY
As we look ahead to Mothering Sunday, Rev Richard explained to us one of the origins for this celebration. He talked about many years ago when the girls who were working in the the ‘big houses’ were able to return home on this day. The families would then all attend the Sunday Service at the Church where they had been baptised, this was called the Mother Church. During our reflection at the end of the Worship we explored the idea of Rev Richard’s church being the Mother Church to our School. Perhaps on Sunday, we could all all say a prayer giving thanks for our Mother Church here in Yapton.
STAFFING UPDATES
Mrs Isaac will be leaving us at the end of this term to take up a position working with the RSPB. Mrs Isaac would like to say ‘ I would like to thank all of the children and families that I have worked with during my time at Yapton School. I have thoroughly enjoyed working at such a special school and I am taking away with me a bounty of treasured memories. I will always wear my Yapton crown with pride.’ We wish Mrs Isaac every success in her new role. Mr Alex Blackman, who the children know really well will teach Cowdray Class with Mrs Gould for the remainder of this academic year. Mr Hughes will continue to teach with the team and Mrs Cummings as KS2 Leader will continue to oversee the teaching and learning for the children.
We will be saying ‘good-bye’ to Mrs Barwick, she has taken up an alternative role in a different organisation as she continues to bring up her two lovely young boys. We wish Mrs Barwick every success in her new venture. Miss Purdy will be staying with us as part of the Office Team.
We will be welcoming back Mrs Bowles from maternity leave after Easter for two days per week covering Class Teacher release time. We will then be saying ‘good-bye’ to Mrs Bowles at the end of this academic year so that she can spend more time with her four fabulous young boys.
We will be welcoming Miss Hook back to school from maternity leave in July. She will be teaching three days per week when she returns. We look forward to welcoming her back.
