Advent

On Monday, Indi and Tilly (two of our House Captains) led the Whole School Collective Worship. They shared what they had found out about how Advent is marked and celebrated in different countries around the world. On Tuesday, the focus towards what Advent means for Christians. Through the Christians values of Love, Hope, Peace and Joy, Advent is a time for waiting and preparation. After thinking about the words from Mark’s Gospel, “Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come,” (13:33)

which encourage Christians to wait and be ready for Jesus, the children were sent away with a little take-away task ready for today’s THINK Worship. Each class has thought about how they can show and share God’s love during this season of Advent. Their ideas have been shared on images of candles which are now hanging on our reflection tree in the hall.

December Prayer

Our times of worship this week have begun with our new December Prayer. Thank you to Lily-May, Eira, Abigail, Oscar, Naira, Isla, Ruby, Lexi, Olivia and Reegan for their contributions. The prayer is attached if you would like to share it at home.

EYFS and Key Stage 1 Christmas Celebrations

As part of their learning current learning, the children in Lewes and Camber Classes and Amberley, Bramber and Hastings Classes are busy preparing their Christmas Celebrations. These are in place of a traditional Nativity play, where a smaller number of children will play more significant roles than others. The teachers have worked hard in their planning of the celebrations to ensure there is a real sense of equity and fairness so that every child feels they have a valued role.

When families come to watch and enjoy these celebrations, they will be reminded that any photography or filming will not be allowed during the performances. This is to ensure the protection of everyone, including those whose photograph permission has not been granted by their families. You will of course be able to take photographs of your children at the end.

Family Fun Day

Attached is a flyer advertising a Family Fun Day on Saturday 21st December, which is being organised by UK Harvest.

Christmas Message From Chartwells

We have been asked to pass on this message from Chartwells – our hot meals provider: The Chartwells catering team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and very much look forward to seeing all the children again in the dining hall in the New Year. You can order now for January 2025 as we are sure you will all be very busy organising Christmas.

Nut-Free School

Carrying on the food theme, please can I remind you we are a Nut-Free School

. Please can you make sure all food that comes into school as part of packed lunches at mid-morning snacks do not contain or have any traces of nuts. This incudes foods such as pesto and chocolate spreads such as Nutella. Thank you.

Extra-Curricular Clubs

The extra-curricular school clubs will continue right up until the end of term – except for SAMA Karate whose last session before Christmas will be Friday 13th December.

Details regarding the clubs which will be on offer to the children in the Spring Term will be sent out to you during next week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Take care

Kim Huggett
