Dear Parents and Carers,
As well as practicing the Young Voices songs, we are learning some Christmas songs. This is because there are two exciting events in December which the children in the Young Voices Choir have the opportunity to take part in.
The first event the Christmas Concert at Arundel Cathedral where a number of school choirs join together with the Arun Choral Society. This is going to take place on Saturday 14th December. The concert is at 5:00pm- 6:00pm and there will also be an afternoon rehearsal from 1:00pm until 2:30pm.
Due to the space inside the cathedral, I am unfortunately limited to taking 30 children to the concert. There are nearly 50 going to the Young Voices concert in January. Once I know how many children would like to sing at this concert, I will look at how to go about selecting those who can take part in the fairest possible way.
Entry to the Christmas Concert at the Cathedral will be by ticket only. These are much cheaper than the Young Voices tickets and details regarding these will be sent out very soon after I have been able to work out who will be taking part.
The second event is the Edgcumbes Christmas Community Market on Sunday 15th December. The children will song some Christmas songs and perhaps a couple of the Young Voices numbers for about 20-30 minutes – not much longer as it could be quite cold! The plan is the children to start singing at 11am.
Please could you complete the form on ParentMail to indicate your child’s availability for each of these Christmas events. I would be very grateful if I could have the information by midday on Wednesday 6th November. There isn’t a limit on how many children from the choir can sing at Edgcumbes on the 15th December – so everyone will have at least this chance to sing some Christmas songs.
