Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, thank you to everyone who came to the Showcase concert before the end of term in December. It was lovely to see how much everyone enjoyed hearing the children sing so well, as well as finding there are so many talented air-guitarists amongst our school families! Thank you very much for all the generous donations towards the cost of taking part in the concert which were made.
Thank you also to those of you who have completed the consent form for the concert day. Please remember, this needs to be done by midday on Friday 16th January.
This letter provides you will all the details regarding the concert day.
THE CHILDREN
The children need to come to school at the normal time. There won’t be a rehearsal at 8am on this day. They children need to be wearing the Young Voices t-shirt they will be bringing home on Thursday 15th January along with plain dark tracksuit bottoms, their school jumper and trainers. It may be worth washing the t-shirt so it feels comfortable to wear. A coat will also be needed as there is a walk from the coach parking to the Arena.
The children will need to bring enough food to keep them going throughout the day. A packed lunch and packed tea, along with a few extra snacks, will be needed. A water bottle and some other drinks (no fizz please) will also be essential. The children will need to bring all of these in a rucksack.
We will be travelling to and from the arena by coach. We will leave during the morning so that we arrive in time to eat our lunches before the afternoon rehearsal. After the concert, we will make our way back to the coach before the journey back to school – which I think may be rather quiet! We should be back at school between 11:00pm and midnight. Our estimated time of arrival will be sent out on ParentMail once we are once our way. They children may bring a small ‘activity’ to do to keep them entertained on the journeys. No electrical items though!
Those children in Years 5 and 6 who have permission to bring their phones to school will not need them on this occasion.
PARENTS AND CARERS
Thank you to all of you who have already opened an email from AXS to download your tickets. You will need these on your phone to gain entry to the arena. If you have not yet done this, it may be worth checking your Junk or Spam boxes as well as your normal email inbox.
The concert starts at 7:00pm but the doors to the arena open at 5:30pm. Taking a small pair of binoculars would be a good idea if you want to get a good view of your child. Look out for our school banner which the children will be making over the next few days.
I have attached the information sheet for parents. Please make sure you have read the Security and Bag Policy on the link on the sheet or using this link. It is recommended that if you are travelling to the O2 Arena by car, parking is pre-booked. Please use this link
to do this. Please disregard the information regarding picking your child up at the venue after the concert. We will all be going back to school!
Obviously, the children are going to be very tired after a long and exciting day. We are expecting them back in school the next day. However, we will extend the morning registration for the children and their siblings until 10:30am if you would find this helpful. Otherwise, we will expect to see the children in school at the normal time.
If you have any further questions about the day of the concert, please ask me.
Here’s to an amazing experience everyone will remember for a very long time…!
Kind regards
Chris Hughes
