Weekly News For Families – 13.06.2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s has been another week of busy learning. Alongside this, children in Year 1 have completed their statutory Phonics Checks and the Year 4 children have completed their statutory Multiplication Tables Checks.

UK Harvest

On Monday, we had a very special visitor in our Whole School Collective Worship. Sian came to talk to the children about the work of UK Harvest. This is an ‘anti-food waste’ charity which tries to ensure as little food waste is created. Some amazing facts about food waste were shared with the children (these are shared as an attachment for you to look through). As well as collecting fresh fruit and vegetables which would just be thrown away, UK Harvest also collect ‘temperate foods’ (foods which can stay on shelves and in cupboards) which are then made available to members of the public through their Community Food Hubs.

With our Christian value of Community, Yapton C. of E. School are going to take part in the UK Harvest Summer Food Drive 2025. A week-long collection of donations of those temperate foods will take place next week. We are inviting everybody to make a donation items such as:

  • tinned beans and lentils

  • tea, coffee and hot chocolate

  • tinned tomatoes and vegetables

  • cereals and breakfast bars

  • powdered, tinned or UHT milk

  • squash and juice drinks

  • pasta and rice

  • jars of ready made sauces

  • crackers, biscuits and crisps

Further details about the Food Drive and the Community Food Hubs are attached. We wonder how many food crates will be filled with donations by the end of the week…?

Year 5 and 6 Quad Kids

On Tuesday, a handful of our Year 5 and 6 children represented the school at a Quad Kids Athletics event at The Regis School, in Bognor Regis. Well done to Indi, Lainee-Rae, Florence, Ethan A, Logan, Oliver and Alfie S for taking part with lots of enthusiasm and determination, whilst always ensuring their Yapton Crowns were still on their heads!

    Holiday clubs

As you know, a summer holiday club takes place here at our school. It has a sporty theme to it. Other organisations offer events which have a different theme. Details of a couple of these run by Goodwood and the West Sussex Music Service are attached. HAF places are available.

Sports Day, Family Picnic and Art Exhibition

Here’s another reminder that Friday 20th June is the date for our Sports Day, Family Picnic and Art Exhibition. We look forward to seeing you there.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Take care
